We had 60 seconds to ask Tony Malek, Systems Engineer, some quick-fire questions. Here’s what he had to say:
What part of the world do you call home? I lived in Toronto for four and half years, but Glasgow will always be home to me.
What was the name of the last book you read? Dare to Lead by Brene Brown
What is your favourite holiday destination? Anywhere in the Islands and Highlands of Scotlands. The Isle of Skye might be the best holiday destination I have been to.
All-time favourite movie? It has to be Lord of the Rings!
Favourite type of food? That’s a tough one—either Indian or Persian food.
What is the first thing you are going to do when we are out of lockdown?Get a haircut!
You have been with the Traveltek family for just under a year; what three words would you use to describe the culture? Dedicated, innovative and dynamic.
You work within the Production, Platform & Enablement team. Can you tell us what a typical day looks like? A typical day is usually checking the service desk queues in JIRA. Monitoring the various internal support channels on Slack. A big part of my day is usually working on sprint tasks. So that could be anything from making improvements in monitoring the AWS environments to migrating DNS services from one account to another. We’re constantly learning and improving processes within the PPE team, and I enjoy being involved in that. No two days are ever the same, which keeps me on my toes!
